Reverend Norman Joseph Farve
P astor N orman J oseph F arve is the third of six children born to the late Roy and Beulah Farve. Pastor Farve spent his formative years in an area in Slidell often referred to as “Down the Bayou”. It was there that God began to form him for service
Upon retiring from Folgers on April 13, 2000, after thirty-five years of service, he would soon find God had used those years to prepare him for a higher paying position with a far greater retirement plan.
Pastor Farve was baptized in the Catholic faith as an infant, and practiced Catholicism for forty years. However, after much thought, he decided to change his religious faith from Catholicism to Baptist, and on March 9, 1985, Pastor Zebedee Bridges baptized him at Asia Baptist church in New Orleans, Louisiana. In 1987, Pastor Bridges ordained him as a deacon of the church, here he faithfully served until returning to Slidell in 1998. After returning to Slidell, he moved his membership to Starlight Missionary Baptist Church where he became a deacon, and continued to work diligently wherever needed.
In September 2002, he heard the call of God to preach the gospel, gave his introductory sermon, and was placed under study of Minister of the Gospel by Pastor Shovie Ducre. He was ordained by the Mount Zion Association in February 2003. Under Pastor Ducre’s leadership at Starlight, he was the Associate Minister assigned as the spiritual leader for both the Youth Department and Health Ministry.
In January 2008, he was asked to become Pastor Elect of Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church, and on April 13, 2008, he was officially installed as Pastor by the Mount Zion Association. Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church congregation continues to grow through the anointed preaching of Pastor Farve. From 2007 to present, Tabernacle has grown to four hundred fifty nine members by baptism, experience of grace, or watchcare. Pastor Farve has also ordained three deacons, four ministers and married several couples.
In addition to overseeing the flock, Pastor Farve was the visionary for the building of the New Sanctuary in 2010 and the Fellowship Hall that was dedicated on November 24, 2013.
Pastor Farve is a member of the Mount Zion Association and the Ministerial Alliance of Greater Saint Tammany where he was elected in January 2014 to a two year term as president. He has preached spiritual messages locally as well as other surrounding states and San Bernardino, California.
Pastor Farve is a loving husband, father, and great provider for his family. He is married to Minister Paulette Terrell-Farve, and is the proud father of daughters Dionne Strickland (Jimmy), Angela Williams (Keith), and Michelle Sylvas(Tirrell). He is Papa to five granddaughters, Kaula (Aviel), Mariah, Sydney, Mallori, and Jade; one grandson, Tirrell, Jr.; one great grandson, Aviel Johnson Jr., and one great granddaughter, Ayvah Johnson. However, Pastor Norman Joseph Farve’s greatest accomplishment is being called a son of the Most High God.
